Philadelphia Youth Orchestra receives $1.5M gift to overhaul Rittenhouse Square music education hub

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute has received a $1.5 million award from the  Walter R. Garrison Foundation in support of a broader $4.9 million capital campaign to renovate and restore Saint Patrick Hall near Rittenhouse Square. The orchestra’s largest gift ever will help modernize rehearsal and classroom spaces, improve accessibility, and restore key structural elements while preserving the historic facility. The project aims to secure and upgrade the long-term home for the institute’s regional music programs, strengthening its role as a shared hub for music education, performance, and community arts engagement.
