UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, has received multiyear grants totaling $8 million from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to advance potential treatments for Parkinson’s disease, lupus and sepsis. The award will support the laboratory of Chan assistant professor Fiachra Humphries funding ongoing operations as well as exploratory initiatives for research targeting how the body controls inflammation and how these immune mechanisms could be used to identify new therapeutic approaches to address inflammatory immune diseases.
