UC San Diego raises $470M in Fiscal 2026 as donors bolster research and student success

UC San Diego has announced it raised $470 million during fiscal year 2025–26, including $458.5 million in private support, from more than 20,000 alumni, donors, and partners. The funding will advance research, student success, faculty excellence, and other university priorities, while helping sustain research amid uncertainty over federal funding. Major commitments included $50 million from alumnus Taner Halıcıoğlu for his namesake school of data science and computing, and $30 million from Sandra Timmons and Richard Sandstrom for scholarships, fellowships, and faculty chairs, as well as multiple awards of $5 million or more supporting ocean science, behavioral health, cognitive science, and spinal injury research initiatives.
