Re:wild, Bezos Earth Fund launch $200M global initiative to prevent species extinction

The Bezos Earth Fund and Re:wild have announced the Phoenix Species Project, a $200 million multiyear commitment to help recover 100 critically endangered species across 30 countries. The initiative, described as the largest philanthropic effort dedicated exclusively to species recovery, is funded equally by $100 million from the Bezos Earth Fund and $100 million from Re:wild, with support from Leonardo DiCaprio, Age of Union, and the Todd Graves Family Foundation. The project will fund locally led conservation, habitat restoration, and species recovery efforts while tracking measurable population recovery and threat reduction over time.
