The Canada Foundation for Innovation–a government-created independent nonprofit–has announced $10 million in grants through its Northern Fund to strengthen community-led research infrastructure in Canada’s North. Two Nunavut-based organizations received $5 million each. the Qaujigiartiit Health Research Centre in Iqaluit will build a community outreach facility to advance Inuit-led health research. The Arctic Eider Society in Sanikiluaq will expand the SIKU Indigenous Knowledge App with improved data, AI, and visualization capabilities. The grants aim to strengthen health outcomes, environmental stewardship, Indigenous data sovereignty, and long-term research capacity across Northern communities.
