The Helen Frankenthaler Foundation has announced $4.5 million in climate-action focused grants to support 83 visual arts institutions across the United States. Recipients include the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, New York; The Huntington in San Marino, California; and SculptureCenter in Queens, New York. The funding will help arts organizations reduce energy consumption, improve building performance, and expand clean-energy infrastructure through projects ranging from energy audits to electrification and HVAC upgrades. The 2026 awards bring the initiative’s total investments since 2021 to more than $21.8 million across 295 institutions.
