Mother Cabrini awards $3M for Buffalo neighborhood revitalization project

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation has awarded a two-year, $3 million grant to the Buffalo (New York) Center for Health Equity to launch the Upper Broadway-Fillmore Transformation Project. The funding will support early-stage implementation that includes hiring a core team, establishing a resident-led Neighborhood Council, and advancing a community-driven planning process aimed at improving housing, education, economic opportunity, and health outcomes. The initiative brings together partners including the University at Buffalo’s Center for Urban Studies and local community organizations. Designed as a demonstration project, the initiative will test a neighborhood revitalization model intended for potential expansion across the city’s entire East Side.
