Dallas United Way receives $6M to connect North Texans to skilled jobs and career training

Vistra–a North Texas power company–has committed $5 million to expand United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Pathways to Work initiative, connecting residents to job training, support services, and living-wage careers in high-demand industries. In addition, Fifth Third Bank contributed $1 million to launch the initiative’s Pledge to Pathways workforce development effort that asks employers to provide interview opportunities and hiring pipelines for program graduates. In 2025, the program placed roughly 5,000 community members in better-paying jobs with average wage gains of 40%, while also providing childcare, transportation, GED, ESL, and career coaching support designed to reduce barriers to long-term employment.
