Mott Foundation commits $30M to violence reduction and public safety in Flint Michigan

The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has announced a commitment of up to $30 million over the next 10 years–including $5 million in the first year–to support community policing and violence reduction in Flint, Michigan. About two-thirds will strengthen law enforcement through existing partnerships with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, city of Flint, and University of Michigan Police and Public Safety, including personnel and technology. The remaining third will support neighborhood-level violence prevention, youth engagement, and resident involvement. The multiyear commitment is part of the foundation’s 100th-anniversary strategic plan and aims to strengthen community partnerships and improve public safety.
