Anthropic, Gates Foundation launch $200M partnership for AI-driven global health, schools, economic mobility

Anthropic and the Gates Foundation have launched a four-year, $200 million partnership combining grant funding, Claude AI usage credits, and technical support to expand AI-driven programs in global health, education, and economic mobility. The initiative will focus heavily on low- and middle-income countries, supporting vaccine and drug discovery, disease forecasting, and public-health decision-making for illnesses including polio, HPV, malaria, and tuberculosis. The collaboration will also develop AI-powered tutoring, literacy, and career-guidance tools for K-12 students in the U.S., sub-Saharan Africa, and India, while building public datasets, benchmarks, and agricultural AI tools aimed at widening access to responsible AI systems beyond commercial markets.
