CWU receives $125M from Mandel Foundation for humanities, access, social work, ethical tech

Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio has announced a $125 million commitment from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation to support humanities education, student access, and ethical technology innovation initiatives. The multiyear commitment—the largest higher-education gift in Ohio—will fund a 50,000-square-foot humanities building, expand scholarships at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, endow a presidential chair, and expand the Experimental Humanities program. The investment aims to increase access for future social workers, strengthen interdisciplinary learning, and position the humanities as a driver of inclusive, tech-informed solutions benefiting students, communities, and the broader workforce pipeline.
