Bard receives $1.35M from Mellon for AI-era history and critical thinking project

Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York,  has announced a $1.35 million grant from the Mellon Foundation to support the Humanities for All Times initiative. The grant funds “The Uses and Abuses of History,” curriculum project addressing misinformation, AI-generated content, and the erosion of shared historical truth through expanded humanities education. It will strengthen cross-campus collaboration, integrate archival research into teaching, and support workshops, regranting, and summer research opportunities. The initiative will culminate in an exhibition highlighting material culture’s role in shaping historical narratives and improving students’ critical thinking and civic judgment skills campuswide.
