Oregon Health & Science University has received more than $9.2 million in multiyear grants from the National Institutes of Health to advance “organs-on-a-chip” models that replicate bone cancer growth and metastasis. The funding supports the Knight Cancer Precision Biofabrication Hub’s collaboration across three awards, including $3.17 million for osteosarcoma lung metastasis research and $2.5 million for prostate cancer spread to bone. The awards fund engineered human tissue systems research, aiming to improve drug testing, uncover metastasis mechanisms, and enable future clinical trials. The initiative strengthens OHSU’s role in precision oncology and human-relevant cancer modeling over multiple years.
