Meals on Wheels America has announced a $70M unrestricted gift from MacKenzie Scott to strengthen its nationwide network serving older adults across the United States. Structured as a flexible philanthropic grant, the funding will help address critical infrastructure gaps, expand delivery capacity, and improve coordination across more than 5,000 local providers. With nearly 14M seniors facing food insecurity and widespread waitlists, the investment aims to boost efficiency, potentially enabling 152 million additional meals and reaching 1.1M seniors annually. The gift supports long-term system strengthening amid rising demand and persistent funding shortfalls.
