Hegeler Foundation commits $2.5M to upgrade Illinois animal shelter, boost care and adoption

Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation has awarded a $2.5M grant to Vermilion County Animal Shelter in Danville, Illinois to revamp its aging animal control facility. The multiyear grant, disbursed over three years, will fund evaluation, design, renovation and construction, targeting modern housing, medical care, and adoption spaces. The grant requires the Vermilion County Board to regularly submit progress reports, aiming to boost capacity, sanitation, and long-term operational sustainability.
