The University of Missouri in Columbia has announced a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to expand its Amplify Literacy Learning initiative, a collaboration between Mizzou’s College of Education and Human Development and the MU Partnership for Education Renewal. The three-year award will fund the use of generative AI-powered reading tools in fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms in predominantly rural Missouri. The program will support teachers and students with AI-assisted writing, grammar, and reading development tools designed to enhance—not replace—instruction, improving individualized literacy outcomes across participating schools statewide.
