Stony Brook receives $7M planned gift for artists, scholars on Long Island’s East End

The State University of New York at Stony Brook has announced a planned estate gift estimated at $5 million from former Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center director Helen A. Harrison and artist Roy Nicholson, plus a $2 million endowed fund, to strengthen the arts on Long Island’s East End. The gift includes Nicholson’s art collection and the couple’s Harrison-Nicholson House in Sag Harbor, which will host artists or scholars through a residency program. The cash award will preserve the collection and property, support creative work, and provide long-term resources for the residency, with additional matching support from state and private programs.
