Anne Arundel County awards $20M in casino tax revenue for community services, education

Anne Arundel County, Maryland’s local development council has awarded $19.9 million in grants in support of public safety, education, recreation, infrastructure and community programs. The funding is derived from gaming tax revenue from the operation of Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland. Among the 28 local impact and 21 community nonprofit grants, recipients include the county fire department ($3.8 million), police department ($3.7 million), and Anne Arundel Community College ($2.05 million), as well as Associated Catholic Charities ($114,000), Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel ($180,000), and Hospice of the Chesapeake ($12,000). Since 2012, more than $400 million in gaming revenue has been distributed to local agencies, schools, and nonprofits countywide.
