Columbus Foundation awards $2M emergency funding to bolster community homeless shelters

The Columbus Foundation has awarded a $2 million emergency grant to the Community Shelter Board in Columbus, Ohio, to address increased demand for shelter capacity among people experiencing homelessness in central Ohio. The emergency funding will prevent planned service and shelter reductions after CSB projected a 43% decrease in capacity due to underfunding. Half of the grant will support immediate continuation of shelters and housing organizations, while the remainder will help plan funding allocations for 2027. The one-time emergency grant provides a temporary funding bridge as CSB and county officials work to shore up public funding.
