YMCA of the USA has announced a $4 million grant from the Walmart Foundation to strengthen volunteerism across its national network. The three-year grant will launch a national volunteerism and leadership program, providing research, training, evaluation tools, and scalable models to help local YMCAs create meaningful service opportunities. YMCA-USA expects to engage approximately 75 local Y associations, with a focus on teens, first-time volunteers and non-members. The initiative aims to deepen community connections, civic engagement, belonging and social cohesion while building sustainable volunteer infrastructure across the Y’s nationwide network.
