Duke University receives $10M from Sperling family to advance Jewish studies

Duke University has announced a $10 million gift from Laurene and Scott Sperling to advance Jewish education at the Durham, North Carolina’s school’s Center for Jewish Studies. The award will endow two professorships and provide for faculty, graduate, and postdoctoral support, and fund a lecture program, while strengthening scholarship and academic programming. The renamed Sperling Center will expand research and dialogue on Jewish life, diaspora, antisemitism, and historical and contemporary conflicts. The investment also creates a stronger platform for interdisciplinary engagement across the university and the region.
