University of Houston receives bequests of $2.8M to boost arts programming and scholarships

The University of Houston has received $2.8 million in estate gifts to strengthen arts education and innovation at the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. The bequests include a $1.8 million gift from the estate of Helen Bloxsom Davis to establish an endowed professorship and distinguished scholars endowment at the Moores School of Music. A separate $1 million bequest from David H. Lake will create a fund for artistry and innovation at the School of Theatre and Dance. The endowments will boost faculty excellence, scholarships, artistic training, residencies, workshops and student opportunities.
