The Atrius Health Equity Foundation has announced funding to eliminate $170 million in medical debt across Eastern Massachusetts through a partnership with Undue Medical Debt and the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association. The initiative will erase eligible medical debt for more than 140,000 residents facing financial hardship, including those with debt exceeding 5% of family income and those with income less than four times the federal poverty level. The relief builds on previous rounds that have cleared $255 million in medical debt through the partnership.
