NFWF, partners commit $38.6M to restore 380,000 acres of Longleaf Pine ecosystems in U.S. South

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has announced $20 million in grants to restore and protect longleaf pine forests across nine southern states. The funding will support 25 projects affecting more than 380,000 acres. Matching funds of $18.6 million from a dozen partners, including the Bezos Earth Fund, will deliver $38.6 million in total conservation impact. The initiative will expand habitat restoration, prescribed burns, and support landowner assistance programs. Projects include efforts to protect at-risk wildlife, strengthen sustainability and resilience in rural communities, and advance the goal of restoring 8 million acres of longleaf pine habitat.
