Pittsburgh Foundation awards $7.9M to boost regional equity and economic mobility

The Pittsburgh Foundation has awarded $7.9 million in grants to 124 nonprofit organizations across the Pittsburgh region through its spring grant cycle. Nearly half of the funding supports basic-needs services such as food access, housing, healthcare, childcare, education, and employment programs amid rising demand and reduced public funding. The grants also support equity and social justice, environmental action, arts and culture, and economic mobility initiatives. Key recipients include Shepherd Wellness Community, PA Youth Vote, and the Greenwood Plan. More than half of the awards provide flexible operating support, and nearly one-third are multiyear commitments to strengthen nonprofit stability and impact.
