Maine’s Northern Light Health receives $10M for precision oncology genomic cancer research

Northern Light Health in Brewer, Maine, has received a $10 million philanthropic gift from Jim Gero–in honor of his wife, Cathy, who died from cancer in 2022–to establish a center for genomics and advanced treatments at the Lafayette Family Cancer Institute. The award will expand clinical research on inherited genetic diseases, accelerate precision oncology trials, and improve access to next-generation genomic medicine and targeted treatment options across northern and central Maine. The initiative builds on research at Eastern Maine Medical Center and leverages collaboration with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
