Washington University in St. Louis board chair commits $200M to new school of public health

Washington University in St. Louis has announced a $200 million commitment from its board chair Andrew  Bursky–co-founder of Atlas, a private equity firm–and his wife, Jane, to support WashU’s newly established school of public health to be named after the alumni couple. The multiyear award is the largest in university history and will fund faculty hiring, scholarships, research initiatives, and a new institute focused on turning public health research into measurable community impact. Launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the school aims to address the intersection of chronic disease, mental health, food systems, and health inequities while advancing bipartisan public health engagement nationwide.
