USAA, Armed Services YMCA launch $1.45M program to expand childcare access for military families

USAA has announced a $1.45 million grant in partnership with the Armed Services YMCA to expand childcare access and workforce support for military families in Texas, with a pilot program launching at Fort Bliss and Fort Hood in Texas and Camp Pendleton in California. The initiative provides free on-demand two-hour drop-in childcare sessions to help military spouses attend job interviews and pursue employment while navigating frequent relocations. It also funds paid fellowships and credentialing pathways in early childhood education, aiming to create portable career opportunities and reduce childcare barriers for military spouse workforce participation.
