The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Baltimore, Maryland, has received a $50 million commitment from the W. P. Carey Foundation to expand student entrepreneurship, startup formation, and commercialization efforts tied to university research. The funding will expand MBA recruitment, support the Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Ventures accelerator, and connect faculty with local industry partners. The business school, launched with an earlier Carey gift in 2007, aims for the investment to keep more startups, jobs, and venture capital rooted in Baltimore. Hopkins-affiliated startups have generated 1,000 Maryland jobs and raised $4.8 billion to date.
