University of Wisconsin–Madison has announced a $100 million commitment from the Catalyst Collective—a group of alumni, industry leaders, and corporate partners—to support the launch of UW–Madison’s College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence. The multiyear investment will fund faculty hiring, research expansion, and new AI-focused academic programs ahead of the college’s July 2026 opening under its inaugural dean Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau. The initiative includes hiring 50 new faculty and advancing interdisciplinary work on AI ethics, governance, and workforce impacts. The funding aims to position the university as a national hub for responsible AI innovation and talent development.
