Boston College receives $125M Patrick F. Cadigan bequest for academic hub renovation and expansion

Boston College has received a $125 million estate gift from the family foundation of the late Patrick F. Cadigan (‘57) to support the renovation and expansion of Carney Hall as a hub for social sciences and campus ministry. The gift—the largest in the university’s history—will fund a major facility upgrade, including a 50,000-square-foot addition and redesigned academic space. The investment aims to enhance interdisciplinary learning and student formation while modernizing aging infrastructure. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, positioning the university to better serve future generations of students through improved academic and community spaces.
