John Wilson $34M expands emergency rental assistance following ICE crackdown in Minnesota

John Wilson, biotech entrepreneur and founder of the Wilson Foundation, has committed more than $34 million to Minnesota community organizations, including La Viña Community Church in Burnsville, Grace Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and other local partners, to provide emergency rental assistance following Operation Metro Surge. The commitments have funded roughly 20,000 rent payments, helping thousands of immigrant families remain housed despite detentions, deportations, and lost income. The unrestricted funding enables rapid assistance beyond government eligibility limits, complementing state and Minneapolis rental aid while helping prevent evictions, homelessness, and broader housing instability across affected communities.
