The Walton Family Foundation has announced a three-year, $3.15 million commitment to Project for Public Spaces to expand its community placemaking efforts across Northwest Arkansas. The funding aims to strengthen social cohesion, improve public spaces and increase community access to gathering places. The award will support eight public space transformation projects, providing $100,000 implementation grants, technical assistance, community engagement, design and planning support for nonprofits and government agencies in Benton and Washington counties. The award will fund a new PPS staff position and back a regional evaluation of project outcomes.
