The American Council of Learned Societies has announced a $1 million award from the Henry Luce Foundation to help launch the Luce/ACLS Civic Education for Democratic Life Program, supporting community-engaged civic education initiatives colleges and universities nationwide. The collaboration aims to address rising polarization and reinforce higher education’s role in fostering inclusive civic engagement. Through grants, workshops, and peer exchanges, the program will support efforts that connect students, faculty, and community members through projects designed to strengthen democratic participation, dialogue, and civil society.
