A coalition of international funding partners have committed $900 million to accelerate cleaner household cooking solutions across Africa. The latest financing, involving the United States, Norway, Kenya, the African Union, and International Energy Agency, builds on pledges from the 2024 Africa Clean Cooking Summit, boosting funding to more than $3.1 billion. The investment will expand access to cleaner fuels, modern stoves, and related infrastructure while reducing reliance on traditional cooking methods linked to harmful emissions. With most of Africa’s population lacking cleaner cooking options, the initiative aims to improve health outcomes, strengthen energy access, and advance sustainable household practices across the continent.
