Novo Nordisk $4M to UAB backs rural expansion of Alabama community health initiative

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has announced a three-year $4 million commitment from Novo Nordisk to fund the introduction of UAB’s Live HealthSmart Alabama program statewide. The funding will support program expansion into rural communities including Clanton and Oneonta, as well the city of Montgomery, advancing prevention, nutrition, and built-environment initiatives tailored to local needs. The latest funding follows the pharmaceutical giant’s previous $2.7 million awarded in 2023.
