Knight Foundation backs Indiegraf with $5M to scale independent local newsrooms nationwide

Indiegraf, a Vancouver-based technology company serving independent local news organizations, has announced a $5 million program-related investment from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to scale the use of Indiegraf’s local journalism platform to 500 communities and provide subsidies covering up to 70% of technology costs for qualifying newsrooms. Indiegraf has committed to ensuring that half of participating outlets serve underrepresented communities. The investment is designed to lower digital infrastructure costs, strengthen revenue diversification, deepen audience engagement, and improve the long-term sustainability and independence of local news organizations.
