Ford Motor, Bloomberg Philanthropies back auto technician training expansion in Detroit

The Ford Motor Company and Bloomberg Philanthropies have announced a $5 million joint investment in the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation to expand automotive technician training programs. The funding will modernize facilities at the Breithaupt Career and Technical Center and relaunch the automotive program at Western International High School. The initiative will provide industry certifications, internships, college-credit opportunities, teacher training, and transportation support. By 2028, the program is expected to more than triple enrollment to more than 300 students, helping address growing shortages of skilled auto service technicians.
