The Bezos Family Foundation has committed $100 million to the Robin Hood Foundation to support early childhood education and child care access across New York City. The multiyear award from the foundation established by the parents of Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, will anchor Robin Hood’s $1 billion endowment while funding near-term investments to stabilize the city’s strained child care system. BFF pledged $25 million in additional matching funds that could boost the total to $150 million. The funding aligns with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s push for universal free child care, including expanded programs for infants and preschoolers as the city confronts rising costs, child care shortages, and workforce losses tied to access and the unaffordability of quality care.
