The BlackRock Foundation has announced a combined $30 million commitment over three years to Texas State Technical College, Independent Electrical Contractors of Dallas, Dallas College, and their nonprofit training partners to expand Texas’s electrical workforce. The award will fund the training of more than 12,000 Texans through apprenticeships, degree programs, and licensing pathways. The initiative targets critical labor shortages driven by surging energy demand and infrastructure growth, aiming to fast-track workers into stable, well-paying trades. By pairing technical training with financial education, the initiative will boost career access, increase the pool of licensed electricians, and strengthen long-term economic mobility across the state.
