Bezos $10B climate pledge lags as billions remain unspent halfway to Earth Fund’s 2030 deadline

In 2020, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, committed $10 billion through the Bezos Earth Fund to global environmental organizations to combat climate change and biodiversity loss by 2030, but the pace of funding has lagged. Several multiyear commitments have deployed roughly $2.3 billion, leaving nearly $7 billion unspent halfway to the deadline. Recent funding includes $37.5 million for Pacific Island marine conservation and $30 million for AI-driven climate solutions. While aimed at large-scale climate impact, the pace trails far behind giving by Bezos’ former wife MacKenzie Scott, whose philanthropy has raised the bar to accelerate disbursements to reach global beneficiaries.
