The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, in partnership with NOAA Fisheries, announced $3.4 million in grants to modernize U.S. fisheries data collection through its Electronic Monitoring and Reporting Grant Program. Leveraging $4.2 million in matching funds, the grants will fund 13 projects that expand electronic monitoring to new fisheries, deploy AI for more efficient onboard data collection, and improve the timeliness and transparency of fisheries data. The initiative supports sustainable management in federal and state fisheries across 13 states and Puerto Rico, enhancing conservation, seafood sustainability, and community resilience.
