Laurie McGrath, through the McGrath Family Foundation, has awarded a $10 million gift to the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, California, to support construction of Freedom Park at Burnham Navy Pier. The donation brings fundraising commitments to $57 million toward the estimated $77 million cost to develop the veteran-focused park. The project will create 5.7 acres of public space with gardens, an amphitheater, play areas and a waterfront promenade. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for 2028.
