South Muskoka Hospital receives C$8M bequest from local resident Robert George West  

South Muskoka Hospital has received a C$8 million ($5.8M) bequest from local resident Robert George West, who died in 2025, to advance healthcare in Muskoka, Ontario, region. The donation reflects West’s lifelong commitment to healthcare and connection to the region, shaped by his career founding Medical Mart, a leading Canadian medical supply company. The gift will support the hospital’s mission and boost its campaign focused on creating an integrated regional healthcare system as well as building two new hospitals.
