The Humana Foundation has announced a more than $12.2 million grant commitment supporting 13 nonprofit organizations and five university research teams nationwide to improve emotional well-being for older adults and veterans. The funding will expand community-based programs addressing loneliness, depression, and social isolation while advancing research into evidence-based interventions, including AI-enabled tools, caregiver support, and nutrition. Major awards include $3 million for Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP, $1.25 million for Film Independent, and $1 million for Friendship Bench. The grants aim to scale proven solutions that strengthen social connections and improve health outcomes across communities nationwide.
