Goodwill unveils plans for $35M Cleveland hub targeting jobs, food access, community development

Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is planning a $35 million, 80,000-square-foot Opportunity Center at the site of the former St. Vincent’s Hospital—blending workforce services, nonprofit space, and an 18,000-square-foot grocery store. The project—targeting a 2028 completion—aims to anchor community revitalization in a historically underserved neighborhood. Funding will come from a mix of $10 million from Goodwill, $7–8 million in New Markets Tax Credits, and a $17 million capital campaign. The center will host multiple nonprofit partners, potentially including childcare and banking services, creating a one-stop hub for jobs, food access, and social support.
