Canada’s Heart & Stroke, partners, commit $3.7M to advance cardiac arrest research and improve recovery

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health, and Brain Canada, has announced a C$5 million ($3.7M) commitment to leading Canadian research teams to advance the field cardiac arrest prediction and to improve patient survival and recovery. The funding will support multidisciplinary teams led by researchers at the University of British Columbia, the University of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Hospital. The grants will accelerate innovations in early detection, AI-assisted emergency response, and neurological recovery after cardiac arrest, aiming to improve outcomes for the roughly 60,000 Canadians who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year.
