Alberta community foundation receives $2.25M estate gift for youth leadership programs

The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta has announced a C$3.2 million ($2.25M) bequest from the estate of David and Shirley Hughes to support charitable organizations and programs that develop youth leadership and enrich the lives of young people across Southwestern Alberta. The estate gift will strengthen an existing fund named for the couple that provides ongoing grants through the foundation’s Community Priorities Grants program. The funding creates a permanent source of support for youth-serving nonprofits and extends their long-standing commitment to youth leadership, philanthropy, and community engagement for the community’s next generation.
