Milken Institute, Ann Theodore Foundation award early-career grants to sarcoidosis researchers

The Milken Institute and the Ann Theodore Foundation have announced 3 grants totaling $600,000 through an inaugural collaboration to fund early-career researchers as they study sarcoidosis–an immune condition that causes clusters of white blood cells to form in the lungs, lymph nodes, skin, and eyes. The program provides funding and mentorship to strengthen the pipeline of sarcoidosis researchers and advance understanding of the disease. Recipients include Bing Ma (University of Maryland, Baltimore); Kristen Mathias (Johns Hopkins University); and Mary Richert (National Jewish Health in Denver). Funded projects will examine the metabolic, environmental, and genetic drivers of sarcoidosis.
