$68M to University of Alberta targets gaps in pediatric and women’s healthcare and research

The University of Alberta in Edmonton has announced commitments totaling C$93.5 million ($68.3 million) from Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation ($51.4M) and Alberta Women’s Health Foundation ($14.8M) to U of A’s Women and Children’s Health Research Institute to advance research-driven care for women, children, and families. The 10-year collaborative funding partnership will support patient-informed research, including pediatric pain management, clinical trials, and studies addressing gaps in women’s health such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and cardiovascular disease. The funding aims to accelerate translation of research into improved clinical outcomes to shape broader standards in maternal and pediatric health.
